Maxim(aly) bombarded city

The phoenix is a mythical bird that resurrects itself from the ashes; to me it is the city of Mumbai, my city, my home. Known by many names; it is called the maximum city, the city that never sleeps, the city of dreams, the commercial capital, the glamour capital but to me it is the city of indomitable spirit. A spirit that refuses to get crushed. A spirit that inspires us to take a train to work the next morning despite of serial train blasts ripping havoc through the city the night before. A spirit that motivates us to go about our day to day life after battling the worst rainfall any metro has seen, the day before. A spirit that the terrorist try to crush time and again and fail. They can;t crush it , Mummbai shakes but does not stir, it carries on resolute and determined. Sometimes i think they hate us for it coz we don't give in and neither do we give up. The question is how long are we going to continue being taken for granted by our so called politicians who just watch us get slaughtered, massacred and tortured againn and again in the name of this undying, determined, unwavering spirit? A spirit that beckons us today, to stand up and return to the our daily chores even in the aftermath of a colossal tragedy. It is what prompts the staff of both the Taj and Oberoi to resurrect the hotels to their former glory despite of personal and finnacial losses but today i see a difference even in that spirit, I see it grow strong when I see fellow mumbaikars demonstrate and protest against the spineless, incompetent, corrupt morons who unfortunately run this nation. Who sit tight in their chairs watching a city being held to ransom knowing it was their ignorance that caused it, who have the audacity to offer a few lakh rupees as compensation for those brave men who give their lives for this city and its people but don't bring in reforms to give them better arms or safety gear, who time and again mock this city's resoute spirit and the intelligence of its citizens by giving dramatic speeches laced with political chicanery and promise reforms in the aftermath of every terrorist attack, reforms that incidentally never take off from the paper.
Its time this city resurrects itself from the ashes once again but not to go down in ashes some otherday. We, the people of Mumbai, are FED UP of resurrecting ourselves from the ashes time and again only to be taken for granted by ignorant, selfish and corrupt politicians who leave us to be preyed upon by some demented idiots who fight in the name of some obscure cause of which they themselves are unaware of. We are fed up of the facetious approach and the melodramatic speeches condemning terror and mayhem blow after blow. We are not scapegoats whom you line up outside a butchers shop! We are not willing to be slaughtered time and again under the name of Mumbai's spirit. Where were the politicians when the massacre was on? Hiding under their beds in their opulent bungalows under tight security. Surfacing only when things were under control to propogate their cheap and fake agendas to score brownie points, causing more security hazards or to mock those hundreds of innocent people who died by strolling leisurely in a wrecked Taj with filmakers and actors in tow. We are not a joke, our lives are not some cheap form of entertainment to keep you entertained when you decide to come out of your hiding holes to put a hypocritical front of remorse and concern. The greatest tragedy of Mumbai is that it has made peace with terror and tragedy. That our indomitable spirit is being taken for granted, our cries of enough is enough are going unheard. It is time we fan the flames out of which we resurrect ourselves. That we don't forget the fire that gutted us to ashes even as we emerge from the ashes, stronger, wiser and angrier. That we don't forget the anger nor the tears and don't let these fools who put our lives at stake for their own vested intrests forget it either.
